My wife and I traded our car a couple weeks ago for a new one. We still owed money on it, and when we went to the dealership (which is a reputable dealership), they agreed to pay off the car and give us money off of our new car. We completed the deal, and our old car is long gone, and we are happy with our new car. I have documentation showing that the ownership of the old car and the responsibility of the loan passed from me days before the payment due date for the monthly payment on the old car. We have been getting harassing phone calls everyday since the payment due date, and two calls today. I explained that the car was no longer mine, and that they would be receiving a full pay off amount from the dealership. I offered a name and number of a representative of the dealership that has the car, but they only wanted to take my payment for the month. I called the dealership, and they said that they are just trying to get one last payment, and they are just mad that I didn't refinance the car instead of selling it. He assured me that they can't touch my credit or my possessions, and that the payment is already in process. My question is this: can the auto loan company (Chase Auto) legally hurt my credit? If they can't, and they report me anyways, what can I do in retaliation or to fix the damage they wrongfully cause?

Why are my quotes for car insurance so expensive?

I understand that being 17 means my car insurance is going to be a lot. I've had friends that have said their insurance is 800 for more powerful cars that what I have been getting quotes on. I've looked at the cheapest cars to insure, Peugeot 106's, Fiat Punto's etc with minuscule engines. But I'm still getting quotes for 3000 to 4000, which I can't afford. I'll do my best to summarize my situation, and am using estimates for days and amounts... I received a quote for auto insurance for $590 for a 6 month period from an independent auto agent. When I received my insurance policy and premium price it way nearly double (over $1,100). I cancelled the policy within a week after receiving the huge increase in premiums. Because of the time it took for me to receive my new premium and the 5-7 days for me to cancel, I received a bill for an amount due of roughly $40.00. I previously had auto insurance through the company/agent but it was for a different vehicle and paid a month in advance. My question is, why am I responsible, and how am I responsible for the premium that is so much higher than what I was quoted? I didn't sign any paperwork, I called over the phone and had the agent switch the policy based on the new quote. Auto insurance played a huge factor in budgeting for the vehicle and I feel that I was ripped off. Different Car insurance rates for different cars?

Alright, I'm 18 and a freshman in college this year, and I commute there 20 minutes everyday to save money (room & board is around 15k). And the car I have now is not really reliable anymore. Its a 94 Cutlass Cierra, and within the last month the Heating Core, and the Alternator have both went, and I've had to sink 600 dollars into it. I'm looking at getting a new car next summer, and I have basically narrowed it down to two choices. An Eclipse (Mitsu) or Cougar (Mercuy). I know its going to cost more to have a sports car, but what I want to know, is how much the different prices for insurance would differ for these two cars. I was going to do one online, but I saw it needed a VIN, and I don't have the car yet. I'm thinking about asking my car insurance company for quotes, but I doubt they would do it. Does anyone know the prices to insure these two cars for a 19 year old. Or a link or any information would be appreciated.

Now ive been searching for months and getting quotes on all forms of cars,I have read pages of articles on best first cars,and none of them actually have any truth to them. smaller engines are cheaper .No they're not,quotes for a 1.2 and a 1.4 fiesta/corsa the bigger engine is always cheaper (yes these are the same trim,same year and similar mileage) Insurance groups? pfft what are they,insurance group 1 vauxhall corsa 1.0 costs atleast 200 more than a 1.6 VW golf... I can insure a 25 Foot mercedes sprinter with a 2.2 engine for 975,yet a 1.0 corsa or 1.2 fiesta is waking up 1200+ Cheapest quote ive obtained is 650 for a ford fiesta car derived van. I'm 24 and at the moment have a fairly low Saxo VTR with a couple of other performance mods, it handles like a dream on nice roads and has good acceleration. It's starting to fall apart with things going wrong left, right and centre, due to French engineering I presume? I have a DR10 on my licence from 4-5 years ago, so my insurance is a bit pricey. I just paid for a year so I can swap it straight over. I'm looking for something as fun to drive as standard and NOT French.
